Years ago we left our car at Capitol Garage for some repairs and when it was ready we decided to "walk" to Willimantic from Coventry. It was an adventure-- we got as far as Popples Garden center on Flanders Rd. then decided to go the rest of the way by the railroad tracks; it was my first opportunity to see the Ridges close-up and walking over the Wmtc./Hop River bridges was kind of daring because we never knew when the trains would be coming. Anyway it took us about just under 2 hours then of course when we got the car, it was a 10 minute ride home. Makes one appreciate the motor car!
