Loomer Opera House?

Okay -- this REALLY caught my attention.

I came across this site as a former Windham resident, but I REALLY got interested in the article about Loomer Opera House; I'm a sort of fledgeling dramaturg for an off-off-Broadway theater company here in New York. (We only do American plays written before 1920.)

One of my tasks is to find plays from the era for us to do; was the Loomer Opera House ever the site of the world premiere of a particular show? From the article on Threadcity.com, it sounds as though the house were big enough for companies to use it as an out-of-town tryout on occasion. Did they ever? (I tend to find a lot more about the shows we do once they GOT to New York, and very little about what they went through BEFORE they got there.)

I've heard a bit about the Loomer Opera House ,which was long gone before I came along, and would love to know more about it. Anyone still left who actually went into it? Was it stage shows only or was it still around when movies became popular? Given Willi's rich past history, do we have records of famous people/shows that might have played there? Could more pictures be posted on your photo links of this place? [Actually...could more new pictures of anything be posted!! It's a favorite browsing spot for all us old "remember when-ers".]
