What year was the building where Block Buster Video is was built? Was it built as a coca cola bottling plant? I can remember when Coke was in there but don't recall when they went out. Jack Roan was in there for awhile.

In Response To: Coca Cola bottling plant (William Brainard)

It was built some time around 1941. It's a great example of art deco architecture and design. The plant was managed for a while by Morton Downey, a big band singer/player, the father of Morton Downey Junior, the once-heavy smoking talk show host who died recently. Hope to put together a Chronicle article about it soon.
