Woolworth's lunch counter

Ah, memories! Remember the hamburgers there along with orange crush soda? And on the way out, the rental library books? And, the Green Leaf Shop; another Willimantic institution which recently bit the dust. Gosh, I miss Todd's. Used to get Maverick cords there...

I believe that I commented on this in a much earlier posting, but summers in high school when I did bookkeeping for my Dad's store, my standard lunch was a 39-cent hamburger (quarter-pounder!) at the Woolworth's lunch counter with a Coke or root been (another dime?). Remember the goldfish and box turtles in Woolworth's? I still have some towels that my mother bought for me in the Green Leaf Shop. My first Tangee lipstick and stockings were bought at W. T. Grant when it was on Main Street next to Woolworths.

Ada, Did you know you can still purchase Tangee and other items from the past at a great place called Vermont Country Store? It's quite a memory trip to find cologones, soaps and candies [and so much more] from days gone by! Website is vermontcountrystore.com.

I loved the Lunch counter at Woolworths, I was sad to see it go. Sorry But buying sneakers in that building was never the same. I loved having a buger or a club sandwich with a side of Potato salad. Affordable and tasty
