If you are thinking about the diner between Union and Main Streets, opposite the Mobil station, it was the Windham Diner. Another establishment, mentioned in a much earlier message, was the Clark House on North Street. Then for a while there was Seven Acres, on Rt. 32 near South Windham.

I remember a wonderful ice cream restaurant on the Storrs Road in Mansfield Center where the Mansfield Hollow Restaurant is now, only I can't remember its name. It was in the late '40s and early '50s.

Wasn't that Eaton Farms? We were talking about it the other day. That was in operation till about 1974-75. Eaton Farms Dairy Bar. It was on Rt. 195 in what is now the Mansfield Hollow Restaurant.

I believe you are correct. Thank you. It served wonderful ice cream and was always mobbed, especially after a community event in either Mansfield and Willimantic.

As I recall, A's & I's in North Windham was "the" hang-out for UConn students in the 40's and 50's.

Jean: Yes, I remember Butler's. As a matter of fact, Donald Butler was in my high school class. He hasn't been to any reunions, wonder where and how he is.

Jim's Coffee Spot was mentioned in a previous thread. I tried to find it to give you a reference, but it eluded me. Not only were the hot dogs good, but the hamburgers were to die for with Jim's secret sauce on them.

I used to walk by there on the way to my dentist, Dr. Kusmer. It always smelled soooo good going by there. Somehow I never had time to stop.

Do you remember Fiano's in Bolton and Shady Glen in Manchester? SGs had the best cheeseburgers and great milkshakes. Other eaterys include the Marble Pillar in Hartford and there was a great seafood place in Hftd that you walk down into and the waiters had been there since Bunker Hill.

Sure do remember Fiano's and I may go to Shady Glen tonight! I need a half gallon of their frozen pudding ice cream. Their chocolate ice cream is to die for! There was a little breakfast place in Manchester across from the old Mott's Shop Rite on Middle Turnpike which turned out a great hunters breakfast for $3-$4. Think it's still there but under new ownership. My brother liked Taccorall on Broad Street in Manchester but like everything else, it's gone with the wind...

Are you thinking of Butler's Dairy? We use to go swimming behind there--it was called Gile Flynns--just a small sandy area on the Willimantic river.

This is a little offthe subject but someone mentioned in one of these msgs. about being friends with one of the Teed boys by the name of "Philip",I believe. His brother,Stanley & I went to high school & were good friends. After graduation I went in the military & we lost track of each other. Some yrs. later I learned he had passed away, any idea when that might have been? Also I was also almost certain that he married, I believe Carol Slater? If anyone out there can answer these questions I would really apprreciate it.
